Sonar 1.3 is just a couple of weeks away from completion, and we can’t wait to share it with you. 1.3 is our billing overhaul update and contains a number of new, exciting features.

Billing changes

We’ve implemented many frequently requested billing features, such as:

  • The Sonar autopay process can now be configured to retry failed payments on a specific interval.
  • Recurring services can now have a quantity set.
  • Prorating can now be applied as of a specific date when adding services, and many changes have been made to the application of prorated discounts to streamline typical use cases.
  • Recurring services can now have a billing frequency set, so you can bill for certain services monthly, and other services yearly, quarterly, or on any interval you like.

There’s much more included in this update, such as the ability to define metadata on services. This allows you to, for example, track the domain name on a domain renewal service, or the VLAN on a private data circuit.

What’s next?

Sonar 1.4 will bring automatic parent/child relationships on devices, so you can quickly trace the device a customer is connected to. We’ll also be adding a number of improvements to the monitoring system, and network mapping. Stay tuned for more news on the future of Sonar soon!
