A new broadband grant opportunity has been announced for internet service providers in Iowa. The Empower Rural Iowa broadband grant program aims to bridge the digital divide by providing funding for broadband infrastructure build-out in designated broadband intervention zones (BIZ).

The Empower Rural Iowa Broadband Grant Program

The Empower Rural Iowa broadband grant program is an initiative designed to foster broadband infrastructure development in underserved areas across the state. With over $148 million in available funding, this program presents a tremendous opportunity for internet service providers to expand their networks and deliver reliable connectivity to previously overlooked communities.

Broadband Intervention Zones in Siouxland

Siouxland, a region comprising parts of Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, is home to eight broadband intervention zones (BIZ) that have been identified as priority areas for broadband expansion. These BIZ zones have been strategically chosen based on the need for improved internet access and connectivity within their respective communities. By investing in these zones, the Empower Rural Iowa program aims to empower the residents and businesses in Siouxland with the tools necessary for success in the digital age.

The Empower Rural Iowa broadband grant program represents a significant step toward bridging the digital divide in Siouxland and empowering its residents with equitable access to high-speed internet. The $148 million in available funding presents a unique opportunity for internet service providers to invest in broadband infrastructure development and uplift underserved communities.
