It’s been two years since I last walked the floor at WISPAPALOOZA, and this year’s show in Las Vegas reminded me just how dynamic this industry really is. The energy was electric, booths were packed, conversations were flowing, and there was a real sense that the broadband world is standing on the edge of something big.
What struck me most was how fast things are evolving. Everywhere you turned, the talk was about AI. Not just as a buzzword, but as a genuine game changer. From operations to customer experience, people are asking the right question: how can AI help ISPs run smarter, faster, and leaner businesses?

I spent a lot of time talking with the folks who keep it all moving. These are the people out there every day, climbing towers, troubleshooting networks, and meeting customers face-to-face.
While they’re excited about where technology is headed, they also shared one of the biggest challenges facing the industry right now: the workforce shortage. There simply aren’t enough skilled hands to meet the demand that broadband growth and funding are bringing.
Speaking of funding, BEAD was another hot topic this year. There’s so much optimism around what it could mean for WISPs and the communities they serve. Between BEAD and AI, there is a lot of hope, but also a lot of uncertainty.
One of the most fun parts of the week was attending the Emerging Tech Showcase and seeing QueSee AI take home an award. It was a great reminder of the creativity and innovation thriving in this space.

Stepping back, here’s what I took away from this year’s WISPAPALOOZA. WISPs aren’t just relevant, they’re also resilient. They’re innovating, adapting, and preparing to thrive in an era where technology and funding are finally aligning to make real, lasting impact possible.
At Sonar, we’re proud to stand alongside these providers, helping them streamline operations and improve customer retention through tools like Sonar Retain. When operations run smoothly, teams can focus on what matters most: growth, service quality, and community impact.
WISPAPALOOZA 2025 was a powerful reminder that the future of broadband isn’t just bright, it’s accelerating. And I, for one, am excited to see where it goes next.
